BOJITT
BOJITT (Bojana Ilic) is an internationally recognized multidisciplinary artist whose vibrant abstract works transform raw human narratives into universal expressions of resilience, empowerment, and the celebration of life.
Spanning a 30 years career across fine art, public installations, and fashion design, she established herself as a central figure in the Chicago art community for over 15 years and currently resides between Chicago and the Tampa Bay area, maintaining her primary studio practice in Tampa.
Working intuitively with acrylic, spray paint, and textured mixed media, BOJITT alchemizes concepts of survivorship, social justice, and the complexity of modern womanhood. Growing up in Serbia and formally studying clothing and textile design, she was deeply immersed in folklore costume making, fostering a lifelong reverence for ethnography. Her practice draws rich conceptual inspiration from traditional women’s handwork, such as embroidery. For BOJITT, these handmade artifacts represent a "silent democracy", a historically radical act where generations of women quietly encoded and preserved the history, identity, and daily survival of their nations through tactile creation.
BOJITT’s fine art and installations are held in celebrated institutional and private collections globally, including two U.S. Art in Embassies programs (Serbia and Portugal), Chicago’s Willis Tower, and her exhibition She Who Wears The Story at the HistoryMiami Museum as well as her latest prominent eight-foot contribution to the open-air "Rosemont in Bloom" sculpture garden in Illinois. Her work is exhibited at preeminent art fairs, including NYC Art on Paper, Palm Beach art fairs, and INK Miami. Her digitized masterworks were archived in The Lunar Codex and sent to the Moon via SpaceX, and her paintings have been showcased in Emmy Award-winning television productions for Apple TV+, FX+, and Amazon Prime. Her work has been widely celebrated across national media, featuring in live TV appearances on the NBC Morning Show and WEDU Arts Plus alongside features and interviews in the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Times, Modern Luxury, and Create Magazine. As a public artist, her large-scale murals stretch across major U.S. cities and international festivals, including Graniti Murales in Sicily and HARTO ARTE in Mexico. Deeply committed to mentorship and the preservation of heritage, BOJITT channels her expertise into international workshops and university speaking engagements, empowering next-generation creators. Through her global immersive initiative, "Travel with BOJITT," she designs transformative cultural exchanges that inspire women to connect, heal, and emerge collectively with other women worldwide through shared traditions and the universal language of art.
